LP Logo-TMLivingPittsburgh.com is brand new website that consolidates free, affordable and discounted events, activities, products and services into a one-stop, easily searchable database. The site has been very well received; shedding light on hundreds of local deals rachelto thousands of visitors since October and gaining support of the City and Mayor Ravenstahl. Downtown resident, entrepreneur, mother and wife Rachel Booth, pictured right, is a partner in this endeavor.

Shortly after moving to Pittsburgh, Booth met her business partner Heather Walsh, a native Pittsburgher and fellow mom who came up with the concept for Living Pittsburgh after leaving her successful career to stay home and raise her young children.

People need to tighten their budgets for a multitude of reasons; single parenthood, early retirement, going to school, staying at home to raise children, etc. By consolidating the great deals and amenities our community and its businesses have to offer, Living Pittsburgh believes people will find they can afford more than they previously thought.

Living Pittsburgh also hopes to impact the local economy with positive growth. ”When cost is an issue, many people choose to stay home or cut spending altogether,” says Booth. “I adore Pittsburgh, and believe everyone can take advantage of what this city has to offer. Our site shows the way.”

Moving Downtown has created many personal and professional opportunities for Booth. “Not many families live Downtown, so being unique in that sense garners attention from those you meet” she says. Since moving Downtown, Booth has been taken part in Downtown living advertising campaigns, freelance writing, a mom’s group and two business endeavors. Booth believes the success she’s achieved so far is, in part, a response to living and working Downtown. Its close proximity to all parts of the city makes it an ideal live/work neighborhood. Clients also find it intriguing. “It’s a great conversation starter” says Booth. Living Downtown also gives her the creative energy boost she needs to tackle multiple full-time endeavors. “There’s an energy and feeling I get from this place. It pervades everything I do, and everything I am.”

  1. I like the idea,it seems pittsburgh is one of the few big markets that closes after six. I think as more and more young people move into downtown, we will see that change.
